Bye Bye Baltimoe

8.14am, Friday 19th October, South President St, Little Italy, Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Morning folks, just closed the lid on the suitcase and will be off to BWI airport in a matter of minutes. Came in really late last night from a sensational evening with the boys up at Stateline Liquor – thanks Rick, John And Joe – you know who you are, and 40 of their customers from Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. There’s a reason why they’re called Stateline – because they’re right there! Tremendous to have such a top end tasting with proper stem ware, sit down seminar style – magic. Really glad we decided to use this tasting with Stateline to launch the new vintage 2005 Octavius Old Vine Shiraz, 2008 Signature Cabernet Shiraz, and 2004 The Reserve Cabernet Shiraz – the barrel selection from vineyards ear marked for the 2004 Signature back a few years.

Now, we’re off to Raleigh Durham – my first trip to that city – to introduce ourselves to the team at Tryon – our new distributors for North Carolina. Then on to The Lone Star state – Texas – and Austin very late tonight, via the stopover in Dallas. So we’ll see ya when it’s cattle country!!

Thanks a zillion Baltimore and DC – see ya same time next year!

  1. Hi Jane,
My husband Mark and I were two of those happy wine tasters at Stateline in Maryland last night. What a great night!! You’re a fantastic storyteller!! We learned a lot, tasted (and bought) some of your luscious Yalumba wines, and met some new friends. The perfect way to spend a lovely autumn evening!! Thank you, thank you! As you can see I checked out your blog ( you’re not only an oral storyteller but one who writes beautifully as well) and look forward to following you and Yalumba on your travels. Oh, by the way I totally see what you mean about page 161 in Nov. Vanity Fair! Have a great rest of your trip and be safe. Looking forward to seeing you again next year! Thanks again. Renae and Mark Newhouse

    • Thanks a million Renae….another happy reader! At least I’ve got a bit of an idea where my posts land up in Maryland! And it looks like we’ll make the Stateline tasting an annual event. The boys are keen, so with any luck we can compare notes on the Vanity Fair project this time next year. Trust me, he won’t be staying on page 161!
But thanks for your kind words and I’ll make sure I put some Louisiana adventures for you all to have a giggle at. Cheers!
