Beverly Hills Legend

2.03pm, Friday September 7th, Beverly Hills Hotel, Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Afternoon folks, and the Henry Wine Group “Taste The World” event is underway, underneath the Beverly Hills Hotel, in the legendary Crystal Ballroom. So many of the bars, pools, bungalows – every corner and deep plush carpeted hallway and lounge in the establishment really – are legendary. It’s a perfect location to show the cream of the world’s wines and spirits – all represented in California by the Henry wine savvy family.

I’m working with our man in California – David Townsend – and we came to work really early so that we could set up our tasting bench, then have breakfast in the tiny ’20 seats at the counter ‘ Fountain Coffee Room diner thats one floor below the hotel lobby, just opposite the beauty shop. (Did you know? That Elizabeth Taylor’s father Used to have an art gallery in the small arcade of shops just next to the diner, when Elizabeth was just starting with MGM) What a treat to be having breakfast with the ghosts of those silver screen giants that used to live and play here – Richard Burton, Cary Grant, Marlene Dietrich, Gina Lollobrigida, Marilyn Monroe, even Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford!

Anyway, just wanted to share….now I better get back downstairs and give Dave a break. See you later on when we’re off to Pasadena after work. Here’s your tour through the hotel, starting with the classic drive to work through Hollywood.
