Road Trip Update: Ochre Pits

12.49pm, Sunday 29th July, Gap Road, Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia

Just thawed out from another 0 degree morning and will be off shortly to set up our Yalumba “A Taste of the Barossa in Alice Springs” that’s happening this afternoon. We’ve been out and about, though, and went out west of Alice Springs to see the Ochre Pits, where the aboriginals have dug the colour that they use in traditional ceremonies for generations. With the afternoon sun on the creek bed walls, see what you think

  1. Thanks – but I do get to some really interesting spots in my travels, so it’s good to share! It will be worth checking into the blog into first week of November when I’m in New Orleans. See you then
