The Rising Sun Hotel – South Melbourne stalwart!

12.55pm, Friday 1st June, Raglan Street, South Melbourne, Victoria

Afternoon, folks, we’re in the heart of The old South Melbourne Australian Rules Football Club (established 1874) stomping ground – it’s all red and white country around here. The Rising Sun Hotel was always known as one of the main watering holes of the South Melbourne faithful – which is probably why the staircase up to the private dining room has photographs of the Brownlow Medallists from the club. By the way, in 1981 South Melbourne kept the red and white club colours, but relocated to Sydney, and play currently as the Sydney Swans.

As far as modern history goes, here’s the latest Brownlow winner from this historic club – Adam Goodes.

And why are we at The Rising Sun today? We’re showing off our Rare & Fine wines to a group of Swans fan business blokes. The Swans play the Western Bulldogs on Sunday up in Sydney, so no doubt that is what will dominate the lunch chat today. See ya when we’re finished at lunch and off to the Crown Casino!

How about this for a creative take on the traditional Italian deep fried rice ball with an interesting filling? Duck, wild rice and beetroot! Tops with the Jansz NV crystal crisp Chardonnay Pinot Noir sparkling!
