Ready to Live Blog from San Diego

8.02am, Wednesday March 24th, La Jolla (La Hoy-ah), San Diego, Southern Cal, USA

Just getting sorted for the second of three massive tasting with the Henry Wine Group. Flew in to San Diego downtown yesterday, and it’s one of the nicest cities on a bay from the air that I’ve never had the opportunity to explore. It’s a huge Navy town – both air and sea – and two aircraft carriers are in dock right now. I think this is my third trip to San Diego area, and I’m yet to see the famous Del Coronado Hotel. One day … with any luck.

The hotel here in La Jolla is 12 miles north of the city. It has a massive shopping centre opposite as the only walking-distance attraction so I decided “no”. Not into shopping centres, so stayed in yesterday afternoon and evening and watched that Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin movie “It’s Complicated” instead. So much for being the last of the red hot ragers!

I will attempt to do the live blog thing again today, plus get some photos, plus taste some other wines. See ya when we’re pouring and talking.

****Oh by the way. More good news. I’ve been allowed to gatecrash next Tuesday, March 30th for the annual “Women Winemakers Dinner” at Prima Wines and Restaurant in Walnut Creek – on the end of the yellow BART line in the East Bay – not far from where I’m at Pleasanton – at the end of the blue BART line. The stellar all gal lineup is as follows:

  • Patty Green – Patricia Green Cellars
  • Kathy Joseph – Fiddlehead Cellars
  • Pam Starr – Crocker & Starr
  • Delia Viader – Viader
  • Eileen Crane – Domaine Carneros
  • Jennifer Williams – Spottswoode Winery

Exciting times!
